Brief history of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture
The Turkmen State Institute of Culture was established on the basis of the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan of January 4, 1992.
For the first time, 178 students were admitted to the Turkmen State Institute of Culture and educational work was carried out in two faculties. Director of theatrical performances at the Faculty of Cultural Studies and Art Creativity, designing interiors and equipment, pedagogue-choreographer, choir, orchestra, organizer of cultural events, director of the People's Theater and director of the People's Theater (7) and students in the field of bibliography were given higher education.
- In 1993, the Faculty of Theater Arts and Design, including the Department of Theater Arts and Design, as well as the Department of Organizing Children's Reading, was established.
- In 1994, the Faculty of Cultural Studies and Art Creativity was renamed the Faculty of Cultural Heritage.
- In 2005, the Department of Museum Studies and Archives was established as part of the Faculty of Library and Museum Affairs.
- In 2006, the Department of Cultural Values Rehabilitation was opened.
- In accordance with the decision of the President of Turkmenistan on July 12, 2019, the Faculty of Tourism of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan was transferred to the State Institute of Culture of Turkmenistan and started its work on September 2, 2019.
Dozens of tutors currently work at the Turkmen State Institute of Culture.
Since its inception, about 2,000 alumni have graduated from the Turkmen State Institute of Culture and have been sent to work in the field. Hundreds of alumni who have successfully graduated from this university are working responsibly and effectively in various institutions of the cultural system. Hundreds of alumni have become prominent masters of culture and art of our country. They are People's Artist of Turkmenistan, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan, Honored Worker of Culture of Turkmenistan, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan and dozens of state awards and winners of the Golden Age of the President of Turkmenistan contest.
Currently, the institute has the faculties of "Theater Arts", "Cultural Heritage", "Library" and "Tourism".
