TRAINING FOR FUTURE TOURISM PROFESSIONALS

On August 27-29, 2024, representatives of the Turkmen State Institute of
Culture took part in a training held in Almaty for future Silk Road guides from
educational institutions related to the development of tourism in Central Asia
(Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) within the
framework of the EU/UNESCO project "Silk Road Heritage Corridors in
Central Asia - international aspects of the European Year of Cultural
Heritage." It was aimed at increasing the level of training of future
tourist guides, with a focus on preserving and promoting the heritage of the
Silk Road, as well as promoting sustainable tourism in Central Asia.



        Welcoming remarks were made by Amir
Pirich - Director, UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty, Representative of the
European Union in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sebastian Frankenberger -
President of the World Federation of Tourist Guides Associations (WFTGA).



The participants of the training were presented the materials of the
UNESCO Silk Road project for tourist guides, as well as theoretical and
practical classes on the topics: Profession of a UNESCO heritage guide,
Communications for UNESCO heritage guides, Role of a guide in sustainable
tourism, Tourism for all, Professional ethics and business skills of a guide,
Storytelling for tourist guides, UNESCO Conventions and terminology.



Classes were held in an interactive form, all theories were supported by
practice. Upon completion of the training, the participants were awarded
Certificates.
